Song Track   Leave a comment

Am I the only one who has a song track running through her head?  Is it just me, or do other people wake up with a song in their head?  Or a song will pop in your mind when someone says something, or you read something, or see something.  Anyone?  I worked with a lady who was an executive secretary and very good at what she did. She talked about how she would juggle different executives and their priorities in her head, but sometimes she would switch over to the song track and just sing along for a while, like it was a radio she dialed in and out, or a record she could pick up the needle on and move to a different track.  Cracked me UP!

I often wake up with a song already going through my head.  I never dream with songs.  Yet somehow there is one waiting for me.  Almost always the song is a hymn or chorus we have sang in church.  And it sets the theme for the day – unerringly.  “Great is Thy Faithfulness”?  Good day.  “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” (take it to the Lord in prayer)?  Could be a hard day.  Heard of someone getting married?  “Another One Bites the Dust”.

The other day I was reading about Jesus eating in the home of a Pharisee and how it is recorded Jesus went on to tell the Pharisee how hypocritical he was because of his actions and attitudes.  Immediately, the sound track from “Jesus Christ, Superstar” popped in my mind (though it has been many years since I’ve seen that movie).  The part where Jesus is singing “Alas, Alas for you”.  I can only remember bits and pieces of that song, but I remember the passion it was sung with and then at the very end, after he had heaped up all this condemnation against the Pharisees and he screams out at them: “BLIND FOOLS!!!”  Such frustration and hurt and anger in those two words; and their reverberation still echoes in my head.

Anyone else have a song track they pop into during the day?  Anyone else with a song track that can be put to their life?  Talk among yourselves.
